This Newsletter is 100% Free & Easy To Read
Hi friend,
As you may or may not be aware, I use Substack to host this newsletter. In the last two months, I decided to start researching how to utilize the platform better and I subscribed to a dozen or more Substack newsletters to get tips and tricks. How to grow an audience, how to provide content, how to monetize, the future of “content creation”, how to build a platform, etc.
And I just had an “A-ha” moment this morning.
I am not going to monetize this newsletter.
The Women With Books newsletter is going to be 100% free as God made me.
Charging money for this newsletter means I have to start caring about “customers.” This causes me stress. This does not bring me joy.
I mean, I do care about you, but not as a customer. I think of you as a distant friend I may not have met yet. A pen-pal, if you remember the old-fashioned concept.
I write this “content” as a ‘catch-up;” what’s going on with me, what I’m obsessed with and what I think might make other people happy. This is what makes sense to me, down to my bones, regardless of what the so-called experts are telling me to do.
In an age of more and more content trying to sell itself, well, I just don’t wanna.
That being said…
I *may* sell things from time to time. I have recently gotten a product idea that I can’t quite ignore so who knows what I’ll do with that. I have a redbubble for merch.
And I write books.
You are cordially invited to buy one of my books.
If it strikes your fancy.
If you do buy one of my books, I’d love for you read and review it.
If you don’t like it? Okay.
I’m a grown up and I definitely know that not all books are for everyone and I really know that *I* am not for everyone.
Really. It’s cool.
If you’re here because you love my books, welcome.
If you’re here because you love my recommendations, welcome.
If you’re here because you love my deep thoughts and carefully chosen GIFs, welcome.
There’s a place for you at Women With Books.
