Happy Maycember! So many new books!
Hi friend,
It’s been a Maycember - click here if you don’t know that reference - and you (we) (I) have survived!
In personal news, we graduated my second child and celebrated her and her accomplishments. I think we’re all a little dazed that *just like that* we’re done. Okay, I might have started deleting every single email I’ve ever gotten from her school before she walked the stage. It feels sooo good. Now, on to college life!
In publishing news… oh, there’s a lot to update you on. So let’s hit it.
A New Book! Actually… two new books?
Some of you have already discovered the secret books*** that I popped on Amazon this month.
Book 1… The Trouble With Bourbon! pre-order here
I wanted to give everyone something to look forward to, in this…interesting… year. The second in the Cape Moonshine series will involve more beach, more mystery, more margaritas and more… PIRATES.
Yes, I said PIRATES.
I can’t wait to share more in the upcoming months!
Book 2… The Second Chance Bookstore… on VELLA
The first ten (!!) chapters are available FOR FREE on Vella now! Feel free to check it out! When the entire book goes on sale, there will be extra content in it!
What’s it about? A town in Texas called Crash & Burn, an old bookstore, romance novels and country music and a billionaire boy next door… and of course, so many second chances…
***How do I find out about other secret things on Amazon? The best way is to follow me on Bookbub and Amazon - they usually update subscribers on new releases and sales before I can get to it. ****
What other amazing news can I possibly share??
How about a BLOG POST with amazing book recommendations for Mother’s Day that are still really good books to read after Mother’s Day?
Click HERE to get all the details on these!
what I’m watching…
Hacks - on Max - FRIENDS. This is it. This show is everything. The 3rd season… I’m obsessed. It’s a show about female ambition that is unapologetic in all the ways. (And that warehouse of Deborah Vance… COME ON…) (IYKYK)
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare - I said in March that I was waiting for this one and it was great. It wasn’t quite as subtly subversive as The Gentlemen, but a true classic popcorn film.
Sugar - on Apple TV - This was highly entertaining and original and I called the twist very early on (sorry not sorry). My husband thought I was crazy but I *am* a professional story teller and I notice things… I’m still recommending it because for a show about a private investigator and human trafficking, it was still beautiful and… soothing? in the filming choices. And there’s a terrific cast.
what I’m reading…
The Demon of Unrest - Erik Larson - I’m a huge Erik Larson fan and this book about the beginning of the Civil War should be read by every American this year. It’s compelling and scarily relevant to 2024. Read here.
The Sweet Blue Distance - Sara Donati - If you want a long historical saga to sink your teeth into this summer, this is it. It’s about a New England midwife who travels to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the 1850’s via train, riverboat, covered wagon, and horse and the culture of the American southwest. Read here.
Bridgerton books - Julia Quinn - Yes, I started re-reading some of the Bridgerton books before the new season started. I’m really fascinated with the choices the television writers have made (for better and for worse) and I really want to find the time to write a longer piece about this to share. Maybe in a few weeks after Maycember recovery is finished…
can i ask for a small favor???
If you haven’t already, could you please go and leave a review for The Mystery in Moonshine here? Reviews help authors and other readers find the perfect new books to read!
Thank you so much!!!
And with that, I’m going to go do revisions on yet another book…. Can’t wait to share more soon!
